Year 4 took to the stage this Monday to perform their interpretation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe for parents. After a successful dress rehearsal last Friday in front of students from Years 1–5, our Year 4 performers were ready to bring the story to life. Set in 1940 London, the play follows Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy as they journey through the wardrobe into the magical world of Narnia. From developing their own lines to weeks of rehearsals, the students showed wonderful confidence, creativity and teamwork on stage. Well done to our talented Year 4 performers on a fantastic production.

We are delighted to share that Hue P (Year 7) has now returned to school after two months away, following her incredible second-place finish at the International Junior Technical Ski Championship. We invite you to view the photos and videos below, which capture highlights from her training and competition season. Hue's Reflection "When I first started skiing five years ago, I never imagined that I would be placed in the international junior technical ski championship. I first started to ski as a hobby to do something active with my family in the winter. Fast forward to 2026, and I am happy to say that I won second place in the international junior championship held this February. During my training in December and January, there were moments where I had to refocus and push myself. To overcome this, for the last two to three weeks, I only focused on slight adjustments, repeated the same movements, and didn't miss any dry land training. I only focused on my goal and tried not to get distracted. Even though I was not able to get first, as someone who was only able to place seventh two years ago, I was happy to place second this time. I know that it was my attention to detail in the last few weeks that helped me achieve this." We are incredibly proud of everything Hue has achieved this season, both on and off the slopes. Her dedication, resilience and thoughtful approach to her sport are a wonderful example to us all here at Dulwich College Seoul. We wish her all the best as she continues her journey and look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next. #dulwichcollegeseoul #studentachievement #studentreflection #skiing

Our Year 6 pupils are already looking ahead to their next exciting chapter: Senior School. This week marked the start of our transition taster sessions, designed to help pupils feel confident and prepared for the move beyond Primary. Led by Senior School staff, these sessions give students a real taste of what’s to come — from new subjects and specialist classrooms to different teaching styles. We kicked off with a vibrant European Languages taster session, where pupils explored new vocabulary, cultural insights, and embraced the challenge of speaking unfamiliar words with confidence. The energy in the room was fantastic, with every pupil fully engaged, collaborating, and stepping outside their comfort zone. A brilliant start to the journey ahead. We look forward to sharing more highlights soon. #DulwichCollegeSeoul #Year6 #SeniorSchoolJourney #Transition

Founding parent JW Hyun reflects on her family’s fifteen-year journey with Dulwich College Seoul — from our opening in 2010 to both of her children graduating and continuing their studies at Columbia University. She shares how her children were truly known as individuals, encouraged to think independently, and supported in discovering their strengths — from music composition to Mathematics. More than anything, she speaks about belonging. The friendships, the teacher relationships, and the sense of community that still feels like extended family today. What happens when students don’t just receive mentoring — but become mentors themselves? Some of the most powerful learning happens peer to peer. When students support one another, they build confidence, empathy, accountability, and leadership — while benefiting from guidance that feels authentic and relatable. Recently, Year 7 and Year 10 students came together for their second mentoring session of the year in partnership with Oppidan Education. The focus was self-reflection and goal setting, with Year 7 students reviewing their progress in Senior School and Year 10 mentors guiding them in setting meaningful SMART targets for the months ahead. These goals will be revisited in Term 3 to ensure sustained growth. Through our collaboration with Oppidan Education, this structured mentoring model empowers both mentors and mentees — strengthening leadership skills while fostering a culture of shared responsibility. Well done to all students involved for their maturity and commitment to personal development. #DulwichCollegeSeoul #OppidanEducation #StudentLeadership #Mentoring

We are proud to share that a Dulwich College Seoul student String Quartet has won the Grand Prize in the Chamber Music category at the 2026 International New Artist Music Competition. The quartet — Sejun (Year 10), Lumi (Year 8), Erin (Year 8) and Jayden (Year 8) — earned international recognition for their musical maturity, ensemble awareness and disciplined collaboration, developed through our Chamber Music programme. Reflecting on the performance, first violinist Sejun shared: “I think that the best thing about a performance is the rewarding yet minor yearning that I feel after its closing; the many hours of practice come together to make an incredible show, with each meticulous comment and detail reflected as we synchronise together on the stage. However, once all is finished, one half of me already begins to miss the bygone piece while the other half of me feels the excitement to study another piece to come.” Director of Music Mark Knights added: “We are incredibly proud of Sejun, Lumi, Erin and Jayden, and delighted to see their dedication to music—both inside and beyond the classroom—recognised through this achievement. Their success is a wonderful reflection of the commitment and care they bring to their musical journeys each day.” We are pleased to share this performance video and invite our community to enjoy and celebrate this remarkable accomplishment together. #DulwichCollegeSeoul #StudentAchievement #MusicEducation

The Worldwise Game Jam 2026 has officially concluded, marking four days of creativity, innovation and international collaboration. From 4–7 February, students from Dulwich College Seoul, Dulwich College Beijing and Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi came together for an immersive game development experience that challenged them to think like designers, storytellers and engineers. Throughout the programme, students explored the world of game creation from both technical and creative perspectives. A visit to the Netmarble Game Museum deepened their understanding of video game history and industry evolution, while a live Q&A with Ilena from the Godot Foundation offered real insight into professional game project management. Students also participated in hands-on workshops led by Game Development professors from the University of Utah, focusing on animation, digital storytelling and game marketing — providing a rare glimpse into how ideas move from concept to production in real studios. The event culminated in a vibrant Game Expo, where teams proudly presented their original games to more than 120 visitors. Guests voted across categories including Best Artwork, Best Music and Best Overall Game, celebrating both technical excellence and creative expression. Student projects have now been submitted to judges at Ubisoft Shanghai, with results expected in March. In addition, participants are competing in a school-wide Best in School competition, continuing the spirit of innovation beyond the event itself. Worldwise Game Jam 2026 is a powerful reminder of what students can achieve when technology, creativity and global collaboration intersect. For families in Years 5 and 6, the transition from Primary into Senior School is a pivotal moment. It’s a time filled with excitement, questions, and important decisions about a child’s next stage of growth. At Dulwich College Seoul, we recognise the impact this transition has not only on students, but on families. Our goal is to make the journey as informed, supportive, and reassuring as possible. Our recent Wine and Cheese with Senior School evening brought Year 5 and Year 6 parents together to explore what this transition truly looks like. Through presentations from our pastoral and academic leaders, parents gained a clear view of the pathway from the final years of Primary through to Senior School, university, and beyond. Most importantly, they heard directly from our Head Students Bea K., Kunho J., Kailey K., and Jioh C., whose honest reflections offered real insight into the student experience and the support available along the way. By grounding conversations in real student voices and practical guidance, we aim to help families approach this milestone with confidence and clarity. #DulwichCollegeSeoul #EducationJourney #SeniorSchoolTransition #ParentPartnership #StudentVoice

As a founding alumnus who joined in 2010 and graduated in 2017, he recalled, “we were only three stories in the beginning…it was very small.” He remembered how the whole school would gather to welcome students back from football tournaments in Phuket. Jay has since graduated from the University of Manchester, completed his military service and studied AI at KAIST. Another founding alumnus, Dohun “Kevin” Lee, was part of the College’s first IGCSE and IBDP cohorts and the first graduating class in 2017. He studied biology at Oxford and computational biology at Cambridge before returning to Korea to complete his conscription. Founding alumni and their families returned to campus on Wednesday 7 January for “Honouring our Beginnings, Shaping our Future: Founding Families & Alumni Reunion,” part of the College’s 15th anniversary celebrations. They were welcomed by Head of College Ms Alison Derbyshire, who acknowledged founding families including JW Hyun, Helena Kim and Sung Uk Lee, Eunjin Jung, and Young-sun Lee. A highlight of the evening was hearing from alumni as they shared where they are now and reflected on their time at Dulwich. Former Head Student Kris Lee, Class of ’23, spoke about the value of learning through working with different people and traveling. Victor Jung, Class of ’22, reflected on understanding privilege and responsibility during his 12 years at the College. Many alumni fondly remembered international trips to Phuket and Suzhou, as well as events such as the Olympiad and the MADD Festival. Class of ’19 Hyun Sung “Patrick” Lee shared how he still cherishes the friendships he formed at Dulwich. Guests toured the newly renovated campus, including the Alleyn Theatre, DUCKS area, Café 1619 and the Dulwich Drop, and shared memories through the Legacy Video Corner and photo booth. It was a wonderful celebration of the College’s 15th anniversary shared with the families who have been part of Dulwich College Seoul since its earliest days. Founding families and alumni have been invited to return for Founder’s Day on 30 May. To mark the 142nd anniversary of UK–Korea diplomatic relations, 30 of our student council representatives from across all year groups enjoyed a special visit to the British Embassy near Deoksu Palace last Monday. Our students had the opportunity to hear from British Ambassador to South Korea Colin Crooks on the importance of diplomatic relations. As the only ambassador to have served in both North and South Korea, he shared fascinating insights and answered students’ questions in a lively Q&A. Students also gained historical context from Dr Cameron Pyke, Deputy Master (External) at Dulwich College London and currently Head of College at Dulwich College Beijing, who spoke about the early pioneers and exchanges that shaped UK–Korea relations. Our Head of College, Alison Derbyshire discussed how the partnership further enables collaboration in global education and helps students become true connectors of the world. The event was also attended by students from Deoksung Girls’ Middle School as part of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) International Student Exchange Programme. And what is an afternoon without tea and scone? The students savoured treats while overlooking the serene garden views of the historic residence as they wrapped up the event.
